South Carolina Scarecrows Hold Off Pittsburgh Peanut Butter Balls, 43-30
In a gritty Week 2 contest, the South Carolina Scarecrows (2-0) remained undefeated, defeating the Pittsburgh Peanut Butter Balls (0-2) by a score of 43-30. Quarterback Derek Carr led the charge for South Carolina, throwing for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Travis Etienne added a crucial touchdown on the ground, while Rashid Shaheed’s 109 yards and a touchdown made the difference in the passing game. South Carolina's defense forced two interceptions and a fumble, which kept Pittsburgh from mounting a comeback.
“We played tough today,” said South Carolina’s owner Trevor Harless. “The defense really stepped up when we needed them. The Peanut Butter Balls came out strong, but we held firm.”
Pittsburgh’s Lamar Jackson had a respectable performance, throwing for 292 yards and 1 touchdown, but the running game was largely shut down, with neither Joe Mixon nor Zack Moss able to break 50 yards. The Peanut Butter Balls are still searching for their first win of the season.
